The condition of women in recent decades has certainly undergone a profound process of transformation from every point of view. The very concept of women has changed radically: it is no longer seen as an expression of the weaker sex or only as the angel of the hearth, generally submissive to man in the classic patriarchal family, but is considered in a new equal perspective.
Following the great season of feminist claims, the woman firmly asked and obtained liberation, emancipation, equal rights with man at all levels. Currently, she is increasingly involved in the life of society, in the intellectual field, in the world of work, and has become aware of herself, of her abilities and potential, and has become aware of having the right to make her own choices.
The modern woman no longer fears the male judgment and manages her own existence without conditionings, accepting all the difficulties and responsibilities.
Many constitutions provide for the equality of rights and duties between men and women from which they have received effective recognition, to such an extent that all the legislation of the developed states, today appears to be one of the most modern and open, with regard to women's rights.

In recent years, women have begun to enter more easily and more massively into the world of work, especially as a result of general economic progress, the spread of education, and the overcoming of the ancient prejudices that confined them to the home.
It is however essential to take into account the natural differentiations of physical, physiological and psychological character; parity, in fact, does not mean foolish "equivalence", but rather the enhancement of diversity for a shrewd design of common socio-cultural promotion.
Despite all this and being the woman, who has now become a participant in all sectors of public life, from the economic and financial sector to the institutions, her figure, however, has not yet obtained the appropriate identification of the important contribution it produces to all levels, made even more extraordinary by the gravity of a commitment that is divided on several fronts, from public to private, without forgetting the role of wife and mother.
A void that the Diplomatic Correspondents want to pour out for some time, establishing a prize for "prominent, prominent women, successful women", for those women who have distinguished themselves for their industriousness, diligence and ingenuity in various fields: from the professional and entrepreneurial to the cultural, reaching outstanding goals.
This initiative has received praise and full consent from all the authorities to which we are constantly in contact and who have officially supported our proposal.

Even in the face of a rich and varied panorama of female presences in the public sphere, the "Woman of Excellence Award" wants to be strongly selective from the beginning of its institution, to enhance the meaning and purpose of recognition, which are those of highlighting those skills that take on emblematic value as they represent the strengthening of the role of women in all sectors, not only in Europe but also internationally.
The "Woman of Excellence Award" is an award aimed at women who have achieved important goals in jobs that are usually reserved for men.
Finally, it aims to bring to the attention of everyone, those people who have known how to qualify the sector of their own activity, thanks to their professional commitment and their passion. A gift, which the Diplomatic Correspondents offer with the prestigious trophy devised by the Governor General Prof. Lello Marra.
For this reason, the award is given in the gala evening, in the presence of authorities and journalists, where the moments that attract the most attention are the presentation of the awarded and the awarding of the trophy, the prestigious symbol of the award.
Seriousness, talent and professionalism are the qualities of the recipient ladies of the award that are reflected in their local, national or international activity, boosting our economy, our culture and our planet.
